Principles of Operation
  • Membership
Membership in WOWS will be decided by the General Assembly. Appropriate organizations include interdisciplinary national, regional, or diaspora women's studies associations, networks, or their collective liaison committees. Where there is no such national or regional organization, the General Assembly may invite interdisciplinary women's studies center(s) or organization(s) to be a member.

  • Affiliate Members
Affiliate members may include international disciplinary women's studies associations or networks or international interdisciplinary networks. These may be accepted at the discretion of the General Assembly. Affiliate members do not have the right to vote.

Organization

  • General Assembly
The General Assembly will decide membership in WOWS. All members have the right to vote in the General Assembly. The General Assembly will meet at least once every three years, in conjunction with the International Interdisciplinary Congress on Women, or as the Steering Committee may decide.

  • Steering Committee
A steering group, with regional diversity, will be selected by the General Assembly at its triennial meeting. The Steering Committee will have the responsibility of administering the organization between General Assembly meetings.

  • Finances
Fiscal accountability will ultimately rest with the General Assembly, which will delegate financial administration as appropriate.

  • Amendments
These Procedures of Operation may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the General Assembly. Proposed amendments should be circulated at least one month in advance or at a meeting of the General Assembly.
