| Dissemination of
information To support the discussions prior to the first General Assembly, the European member, WISE, established an electronic discussion list, accessible only to the representative named by each of the member or affiliate member organization. To maintain close contacts in between meetings this list still functions as a platform for discussion, interchange, and as a (cyber)meeting place. A Networking Guide has been compiled to further contacts and to increase WOWS' visibility, and this website (www.ww05.org/wows) operationalized. A key task of WOWS is a quick and worldwide dissemination of information. The organization functions as a "tree". National or regional members are selected as such because they are deemed the most able to communicate with the largest number of women's studies practitioners in their country or region. Representatives named by the member or affiliate member organizations are subscribed to the WOWS electronic list. This list is only open for member organizations, not individuals. These representatives then become messengers to larger groups, responsible for disseminating information from the WOWS e-mail list quickly, via their own channels of communications like newsletters, e-mail lists, flyers, etc. to women's studies practitioners in their country/region. |
