The Nordic Association for Women's Studies and Gender Research is an independent and autonomous non-profit organization (NGO), founded in 1994. Membership is open to private individuals as well as institutions and organizations in the Nordic countries -- Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden -- with a commitment to or interest in women's studies and gender research.
The Nordic Association for Women's Studies and Gender Research has a mandate specifying three main aims: -- Publication of the journal NORA: Nordic Journal of Women's Studies; -- Organizing scholarly conferences for women and feminist researchers in the Nordic countries; -- Cooperation with other organizations and institutions involved in feminist research and women's studies.
