Women's International Studies Europe (WISE) is the European association for individuals and institutions involved in women's studies. Founded in 1990, WISE aims to promote women's studies teaching, research and publication in Europe and defends the interests of women's studies on a European level in all appropriate institutions and organizations.
WISE has developed a considerable number of projects to achieve its goals and is supported by the European Commission, national ministries and national women's studies associations. The European association is well established and has national contacts in almost every European country. The Council of Europe and the United Nations recognize WISE as a non-governmental organization.

WISE publishes a newsletter WISE Women's News as well as an academic quarterly The European Journal of Women's Studies; collects and disseminates information e.g. through its electronic discussion and mailing list; advises its members; organizes seminars and develops and supports other initiatives related to women's studies.

WISE has a well-organized network, with 700 members and national contacts in almost every European country. Through WISE divisions, networks on a specific theme, WISE members are enabled to organize the exchange of ideas and persons within their area of interest. Every WISE member is free to set up a new division. Addresses of the divisions and contacts can be found on the WISE homepage.
