Established in October 1990, the Women's Studies Center of Peking University (WSCPU) is an interdisciplinary research organization, which focus on research on women in such fields as women's literature, history, law, sociology, education, psychology, population, and environmental protection. The Center also offers various women's studies courses, undertakes Beijing municipal or national research projects on gender studies, and carries on academic exchanges and cooperation with other women's studies groups both at home and abroad. Together with the Sociology Department the Center is the first and only institution in China able to enroll M.A. students in women's studies.
