It is also immensely rewarding, and I'm speaking from my own experience of organizing the sixth of these congresses, in Australia in 1996. You meet wonderful women, renew friendships made at earlier conferences, hear riveting papers and discussions, and have the very great pleasure of being able to introduce women from all over the world to each other and to your favourite features of where you live. You also make the good political point that feminism, feminist scholarship, feminist activism, women's studies teaching and scholarship - all - are vibrant, energetic, and intellectually rewarding undertakings across the world."
