The Worldwide
Organization of Women's Studies (WOWS) is a federation of
women's studies associations. It was founded in 1996 to promote
and support feminist knowledge, critiques of knowledge, the
practices and research which will improve the quality of women's
lives. A WOWS subcommittee, which includes the organizer of
the most recent IICW and, possibly, prior conferences, selects
the next site for the IICW.
The IICW benefits from WOWS' global communications network
for selecting conference sites and disseminating information
about upcoming congresses. WOWS aspires to bring national
groups together, thereby creating international networks and
linkages.
