This section will discuss economy, work, and welfare issues.
It will also deal with the relationship between women and
modern capitalism, the impact of economic and industrial policies
on women from a women's perspective. Micro-scale research
could examine various institutions that regulate an individual's
economic life. Labor-related topics include segregation and
discrimination of gender, the labor market, affirmative action,
the labor/management relationship and labor movements. A special
panel discussion will focus on the impact of expanded neo-liberalism
on women's labor and lives. Labor re-conceptualization, considering
the two axes of family responsibility and paid work, will
be discussed. In addition, researchers will discuss women's
poverty, women's welfare policy and characteristics of the
welfare state.
