Environment & Agriculture

What happens to women involved with environmental issues like agriculture, fisheries and forestry? Environmental degradation limits natural resources and gender-blind developmental policies impinge on women’s independence. Environmental and developmental issues will be dealt with in depth to broaden our viewpoint of different cultures and economic policies relating to the environment. Discussions will focus on the direction of "sustainable development.” This session will include: statistics on gender sensitivity; promotion of policies for rural women; women's activities for income generating; human capital and agricultural productivity; agricultural technology and information; gender and food safety; gender and natural resources management; gender and land tenure; agriculture and environmental degradation; globalization, sex and periphery; environment and development; women and the environment; women and poverty; gender and sustainable development; gendering agriculture; and environmental policies.
