Sexuality is a central concept in women's studies and it provides
the foundation of women's sexual identity. In this context,
sexuality covers a wide spectrum of topics, from birth and
reproductive technologies, to gender roles, desire, pleasure,
psycho-analysis and post-modern feminism. In this session
women's sexual experience and the body generally will be discussed.
The following issues will be dealt with: socio-cultural formation
process of sexuality ; historically changing perception of
sexuality ; sexuality from the perspective of cultural theory
; various sexual practices such as heterosexuality, homosexuality
and sado-masochism ; legal and institutional issues on sexuality,
including sexual violence, sexual harassment, prostitution
and sex trafficking ; sexuality in cyber space, including
online pornography and cyber sex ; and other issues related
to sexuality.
